Melanotan-2 (MT-2) is a synthetic analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Developed in the 1980s, Melanotan-2 has been shown to increase sexual arousal, reduce compulsive/addictive behavior, curb hunger and increase melanin production. Research has shown the peptide to stimulate melanocytes therefore producing increased skin pigmentation and may help to combat autism when used during early childhood development.

Melanotan II is a synthetic analog of the alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), a naturally occurring peptide that activates melanocortin receptors in the body. It was originally developed for its melanogenesis-stimulating effects, increasing skin pigmentation without UV exposure.

Melanotan II also shows activity at the MC3R and MC4R receptors, contributing to increased libido, erection enhancement, and appetite suppression in some individuals.

It is commonly used for:

Melanotan II mimics alpha-MSH, a peptide hormone that binds to melanocortin receptors (MC1R–MC5R).
